The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union has announced plans for mandatory drug and alcohol tests on building sites.

This announcement reverses the union’s previous stance on testing in Victoria, where CFMEU leaders opposed the former state government’s compulsory testing code.

The new policy supports saliva testing on a construction site for all workers, including supervisors, construction workers, crane drivers, and skilled tradespeople.
